One of my favorite essayist's on mid 00s and 2010s media culture alSO did an essay on Feb 23rd 2024! (The timing of it just as I'm getting drawn into the aesthetic myself is insane haha)

but my abridged understanding is it being an all encompassing term for the visual/audio trends of tech, music, and marketing during the mid 00s through the mid 2010s.

And I'm utterly fascinated now from it

This special minishrine snuck within my media homage page is in tribute to all the fuzzy yet vivid memories discovering this genre had went an unlocked. So much so in fact I put together my own custom playlist of songs that fit the same theme, pulling from both my own collection as well as the numerous ones I've been really enjoying over the past few weeks! (Feb 2024 as of writing) Feat. my own custom animation inspired by old tech toys I wish I had, plus a vivid purple tshirt with cartoon mangos on it I owned as a kid haha!

I also want to give a shout here to the artist nobonoko, who from falling into this genre I now absolutely adore their music!! The two albums linked below are especially large favorites, but I still need to give more of their full collection a look~
